Nisian Hughes Portrait of Benjamin A Peterson

Benjamin A Peterson

Benjamin A Peterson is an accomplished commercial filmmaker, photographer, and creative leader with over two decades of experience across fashion, editorial, commercial, and documentary work. He holds a BFA in Photographic Illustration from the Rochester Institute of Technology (2003) and an MBA, blending creative expertise with business acumen.

Ben launched his career in New York City at Magnum Photos, mastering high-end retouching while assisting world-class photographers. In 2007, he joined Getty Images’ New York creative department, where he retouched and digital-teched their wholly owned productions, covered the Oscars and Screen Actors Guild Awards, and became the only photographer to shoot on the floor of the United Nations General Assembly while it was in session. At Getty, he also helped pioneer the development of 360° panoramic photography and video.

His work for Architectural Digest and other global publications refined his eye for composition and storytelling, which he has since carried into an expansive career in commercial filmmaking. Ben’s fashion video projects have taken him across the globe—from the glaciers of Iceland to the beaches of the Bahamas, the streets of Paris, the islands of Indonesia, and beyond. His productions have included aerial cinematography from helicopters, large-scale location shoots, and integrated stills-and-motion campaigns for leading fashion brands.

Since founding NYCretoucher in 2010, Ben has partnered with fashion houses, global brands, and editorial outlets to deliver visually striking, technically precise work that meets and elevates each client’s creative vision. Today, alongside his independent creative practice, he manages large-scale e-commerce photography studios for some of the world’s largest retailers, blending operational leadership with hands-on artistic expertise.
